SSCS Sent

Now I can also let you see what I sent to Kate Knight of Empty-Field blog for the SSCS.  I had so much fun making the ornament and stitchery snowman table top.  Peppermint tea is my favourite and a great treat to have while stitching!  Thanks Chooky for a great Christmas swap!

SSCS Gift

Finally opened my SSCS gift and look at this beautiful stitchery wallhanging that Tracee of  Quilt Kitty Loves Life blog made for me.  Beside it is the owl scissor/needle holder Tracee also made.   My daughter placed in the scissors and scissor pal she bought for me for Christmas.  Tracee let me know that the postie will not allow those to be sent in the mail.  Thanks for much for the time and effort put into my beautiful gifts.  I will treasure them.

Tis the Season finished!

My Tis the Season Quilt is completely finished and and I love it!

I wish I had had time and I would have quilted it with pearl cotton, but I still love the straight line quilting.

Now to start the new stitch-a-long Some Kind of Wonderful plus a few Christmas gifts.

Journey of a Quilter

Wow I am the worst blogger there is.  I really need to get my act together and post more!

Anyway, my friends, Kelly, Holly and I have decided to start Leanne Beasley's Journey of a Quilter block of the month quilt.  I am so excited.  Here are my fabric choices.  Which do you think is better?

Fig tree quilts (mostly Fig & Plum with other Fig Tree scraps thrown in)

or these from 3 Sisters (Simplicity and Sanctuary)

Sorry, the dates are wrong on the pictures.  They were taken today!

Let me know which you think would better - I am leaning towards the Fig Tree fabrics

Oh and here is my progress on my hexagon quilt from the Vignette in Stitches magazine - which is a beautiful magazine!

back to work!

This is my beautiful cat, Rory.  He is so sweet sitting beside my computer!

and my sweet girl, Molly:

They helped me post my May blocks for Tis the Season!  Here they are:

Oh and look at this teddy bear my husband bought me on Mother's Day for our 22nd wedding anniversary.  It is made out of a 1930s quilt.  I just love it so much!  It is sitting on my Darjeeling quilt.

Back to more stitching!  I am working on the Vignette In Stitches BOM too!  Hopefully I will have some progress to post on that one soon!

Tis the Season First 3 Blocks, My Garden and Pony Express

I have been busy stitching my Tis the Season blocks for Chookyblue's Stitch-A-long.  They are quick and easy and so much fun.  I love the look of the variegated thread.

Postcard Cuties for Winter, A Gardener's Journal, A Kitten's Tale 3

So my daughter, Emily, and I have been working on Postcard Cuties for Winter together and finished our first blocks.  Emily is blanket stitching with black - it looks great and really stands out.  Her block is on the left and mine is on the right.  It is so great to be working on this project together.  Emily is already stitching her second block.

I also finished Block 3 of A Kitten's Tale.  It reminds me of my dog, Molly, and my cat, Rory. I ordered the pattern from Pastimes on Line - love Valerie.

AND yes, yippee, I have finished quilting A Gardener's Journal.  Emily is holding it up for me.  The binding is on, I just have to stitch it down.

My dog is laying under the top of the quilt in this picture

and here is a close up of the quilting - I quilted flowers in the border.

Off to sew down the binding.

Happy Stitching, Lori

My Daughter and I

My youngest daughter, Emily (12) and I have started stitching Postcard Cuties for Winter together.  I am using the fabrics Anne Sutton used in her original quilt and Emily has picked her own which are gorgeous.  Mine are on the left and Emily's are on the right.  What do you think?

We are working on our first blocks, which I will post when they are done.

A Gardener's Journal Top Finished/Other Blocks

Yippee!  I have finally finished the top for the A Gardener's Journal quilt.  I love the colours so much.  This has been such a great stitch-a-long by Chookyblue.  The pictures are not that great.  It is hard to get the whole quilt in.  Now to work on quilting it, not sure how I want to do that.  The next stitch-a-long is Tis the Season, which I am also participating in.

I also finished Block 2 of A Kitten's Tale

And Block 1 of My Garden.

I am also taking the Pony Express Sampler Quilt class at my local shop in Uxbridge, Ontario (which is my most favourite place in the whole world!) with my favourite teacher, Kelly.  Here is what it is going to look like when it is done.  I have ordered the fabric kit as it is absolutely beautiful.

SSCS Finally Arrived

Yippee!  I got so excited to see my SSCS  parcel that I forgot to take a picture of the beautiful packaging it was in.

Shiree from Twizel, New Zealand was my SSCS partner and look at the beautiful ornaments and quilt she made me along with the fabulous gifts.  Shiree thank you so much for all of it.  I love everything.  Your effort is much appreciated.  I am going to leave the heart ornaments out for Valentine's Day!

Thanks again Shiree,

Le Jardin Finished TOP!!! A Gardener's Journal last block and blocks together and more

Finally I can let you see what I made for Chookyblue's SSCS swap.  My SSCS partner was Toni of The Red Boot Quilt Company.  Here are the ornament and quilt I made for her.

I haven't received my gifts yet.  They are lost somewhere in the mail and hopefully will turn up soon as I am getting very impatient.

Finally I finished the top for Le Jardin.  I love the colours so much.  It is such a beautiful quilt.

And I finished my last block for A Gardeners Journal.  Here it is.

And then here are the blocks together.  Onto the borders.  This has been such a great project and stitch-a-long.

Life is Beautiful is starting now in beautiful purples, browns, creams and silks.  I cannot wait to post a block or two.

Also working on My Garden, A Kitten's Tale and Stitched by Me.  Hope to post on those soon also.

Oh and I thought I would throw in pictures of my dog, Molly, Lazy sleepy bum. She loves to sleep upside down and has taught our cat, Rory to do the same. See below.

Here's Rory.  He woke up when I took his picture.

They are so adorable dontcha think? I love my pets so much.  They are so spoiled.

Hopefully now that Christmas and New Year's are over, I will be able to do more blogging.  More soon!
